23d Batt. TN Inf. (Newman's) Co. C

My gggrandfather, Williamson Raney, from Flat Creek TN, Bedford Co.,
was a Sgt. in this unit. He joined in Oct. 1863 near Thompson's Creek, Bedford County, TN, sworn in by Capt. Thomas J. Stanfield...mustered in November 1863.
The 23rd may have been engaged in the Battle of Lookout Mountain.

In Feb. 1863, Williamson is listed absent, sick with measles, but I don't know exactly where the unit was...I have been trying to find where he died and is buried....That is the only info I have from his service record.

Would appreciate anything anyone may have on the 23rd Batt. Tn Inf, Co. C. I found a little online, but not enough to pinpoint where they were when he was sick...Wondering if he died from measles and where.

Thank you.
