William Frasier enlisted as a Private in Company K, 61st Tennessee Mounted Infantry on February 6, 1864* at Zollicoffer, Tennessee, last recorded present on September 13, 1864, recorded on the November 1864 Regimental Return as absent without leave since October 4, 1864, there are no further company muster rolls on file

M268: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Tennessee

* I suspect he had just turned 17 or between the ages of 45-50 when the Conscription act was revised this February.

The 61st, now a Cavalry regiment, was at this time in the vicinity of Zollicoffer in BGen. John Crawford Vaughn's East Tennessee Cavalry Brigade. They were present at Greenville, Tenn. on September 3, 1864 the night Gen. John Hunt Morgan was killed.

In as much as no further muster rolls exist, there is no way of knowing if he ever returned to the regiment. Vaughn's brigade ended the war serving as one of the Cavalry Brigades escorting President Jefferson Davis on his flight South from Charlottsville ending at Washington, Georgia about May 5, 1865

Company K was raised with men from Sullivan County, Tennessee
