Most regiments in which my ancestors served (4th,6th, 47th, Inf's)are mentioned as being inadequately suppplied with flintlock rifles & hunting shotguns in the summer of 1861.

My question: Were these men still using these outdated arms when the Battle of Shiloh took place, or were they armed with more modern weapons?
