Mr. Cagle,

I don't know why I keep getting drawn back to Wm. Kendrick... I am trying to compile a database on TN Confederate soldiers (more genealogically). I am more interested in the person than regiments/brigades/military science. I guess I just like historical research and a challenge of a Yankee every once in a while.

I did find a source concerning Wayne Co. TN early settlers that stated Kendrick was captured while organizing a regiment for the Federal Army and was sent to Libby Prison. Luckily no specific unit was cited for further confusion.

Kendrick was an one term TN State Senator and ran for Congress (defeated by John V. Wright).

According to Frederick Dyer there was a 3rd Regiment Enrolled Militia Infantry but no info available.

William Kendrick sure experienced a lot in his 38 +/- years.... lawyer, husband/father, "Col.", one of the famous tunnel escapees from Libby Prison, wrote to Pres. Lincoln, and 150 years later has so many people intrigued.
