to LeAnn Geer: Thank you for the information you sent to my husband, Jack. As he stated, we've not been able to find John Franklin Ausmus' burial place. The Civil War records indicate that he died of disease at Altoona, Georgia, 7 July 1864, but there is not a burial place listed. I have information for his wife and children taken from the 1870 Federal Census (District 3, Claiborne, Tennessee, p. 6, l. 37/36), and of her second marriage to Harvey J. Kivett (taken from 1870, 1880, 1900 and 1910 Federal Censuses) and their children. Jack's Ausmus' connection is through Mary (b. 1814-) father: John O. Ausmus (1778-1853 - Rockingham, Virginia). She married Jack's 2nd Great-grandfather, William Moss Briscoe (1808-1886) on 27 Nov 1830 in Schuyler County, Illinois. If you would like a copy of my family group sheets with the specific documentation, please contact me at mrgss@cableone.net. Good luck with your searching, and if you, by chance, find John Franklin's grave, please let us know. Thanks for your reply.
