There is one card in his file which reveals that he was on detached service August 17, 1863 near Orange C. H., Va., with the QM Dept. as Regimental Train Teamster. He was also recorded present at the May/June, 1863 muster which was dated August 11, 1863 and then present at the Jul/Aug, 1863 muster, dated October 29, 1863.

There is no record of when he was detailed as Regimental Teamster. He very well could have remained behind the lines with the Regimental baggage train at Gettysburg.
