I feel confident, based on his CSRs, that Broadwell was at Gettysburg serving in some capacity. I would be more comfortable with some documentation other than what little there is. I know he was in the South Carolina Confederate Soldiers' Home for a period beginning in April 1939 based on his application & acceptance. I was wondering if the records of the soldiers home still exist, and if he filled out a questionnaire regarding his service, as Georgia vets did for the home in Atlanta ?
I am compiling biographies on Georgia's last surviving Gettysburg veterans. I know of 4 Georgians (from GA units) that died between 1939 & 1944 that were @ Gettysburg in July 1863.
