Re: SC 15th (Lucas) Battalion Heavy Artillery CSA

The information that Cassidy was with Lucas battery is incorrect. Not uncommon.

I do not know where you gained the information that personal information is not found in the records. That is incorrect. Personal information abounds, it just depends on the source.

Discharge/parole/POW papers, are just a few of the various type documents that contain such info.

As to James' residence of Chatham County, that came from the Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-1865. Where they found this information, I do not know.

As to the remark "DISTINGUISHED SERVICE". I can only assume his name appeared on some honor roll by this title.

James H. Cassady, Private, Company G, 1st (Olmstead's) Regiment Georgia Infantry, killed August 12, 1863 at Fort Johnson, James Island, S. C.

M266: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Georgia

.......

James H. Cassidy

Residence Chatham County GA;
Enlisted as a Private
"G" Co. GA 1st Infantry (Killed at Battery Wagner) Morris Island
(Last name; Cassidy or Cassiday.)
