What, if any clues, can you dervive from the September, 1863 letter?

Marsh S. Bryson, Private, Company K, Jenkins' Regiment Palmetto Sharp Shooters, enlisted March 20, 1862 at Spartanburg by Capt. Walker for 3 years or the war, killed in battle May 31, 1862, noted as a Recruit, claim for settlement of his accounts were filled Oct 20, 1862 by D. C. Bryson Alr Rebal [Sp. ??]

The Palmetto Regiment of Sharp Shooters (also called Jenkins' Regiment and the 1st Regiment Palmettto Sharp Shooters) was organized April 16, 1862, with twelve companies, which were composed principally of men who had formerly served in the 4th, 5th and 9th Regiments South Carolina Infantry

Note: Two cards in his file record his unit ID as 5th Reg. Vols. SC

Record of Events, Field and Staff for May & June, 1862

Regiment left Yorktown on the night of the 3rd of May, was engaged in the fight at Williamsburg on the 5th, fell back to Camp near Chickahominy, distance marched about 50 miles, fell back from there to camp near Richmond, distance marched 15 miles. Was engaged in the action of the 31st May at the Seven Pines. Lost in killed, wounded and missing, 244, after driving the enemy over two miles. Was engaged at Gaines' Mill on the 27th June ult., lost in killed and wounded 96.
