In the "Century War Book" in Gen Longstreet's article about Glendale or one of those battles, during a horseback conference with others they came under fire. He sent Col. Jenkins an order "to silence that battery, supposing he could do so with his long range rifles!" But the only long range type rifle I ever have found that was proven to have been used by the PSS was a Kerr Rifle, similar to a Whitworth I think but with round rather than hex bore. It was in an article in CWT, Ills, "Guns of the Palmetto SharpShooters".
