Osgood A. Mood, Private, Capt. John Cordero's Company, 1st Regiment South Carolina Vols.*, enlisted July 29, 1861 at Columbia, S. C. by Capt. Cordero for the war, promoted to 4th Corporal by February, 1862, advanced to 4th Sergeant September 22,1862 upon the death of Sgt. Taylor, killed in battle, appointed 1st Sergeant February 14, 1863, captured at Sutturland Sta. April 3, 1863, arrived Point Lookout, Maryland prison camp April 13, released June 29, 1865 on taking the Oath of Allegiance to the U. S., description: resident of Richmond Dist., S.C., Light complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, 5' 8-1/2"

* This company subsequently became Company C, 1st (McCreary's) Regiment South Carolina Infantry. The regiment was organized by Colonel Maxey Gregg who formerly commanded the 1st Regiment South Carolina Infantry (6 months, 1861,) which was mustered out July 9, 1861. . . The twelve companies composing this regiment were organized between June and September, 1861.

E. A. King, Private, Capt. D. G. McIntosh's Company (Pee Dee Rifles), 1st Regiment South Carolina Vols.**, enlisted soon after leaving home August 13, 1861 in Darlington Dist., S. C. for the war last recorded present on the Jan. & Feb., 1862 muster roll, no further records

** This company subsequently became Company D, 1st (McCreary;s) Regiment South Carolina Infantry, which was changed to a light artillery battery and separated from the regiment about March, 1862. It served as an independent command which became Captain Zimmerman's Company, South Carolina Artillery, until assigned to Manigault's Battalion, South Carolina Artillery as Company C, May 5, 1864

McIntosh;s (Pee Dee) Light Artillery Company,*** enlisted August, 1861 at Darlington, recorded absent, sick on the Mar. & Apr., 1863 muster roll, admitted to General Hospital, Staunton, Va., March 15, 1863, Enlgt. of Par Gld, recovering slowly July 10, 1863, remaining sick through the end of the year, present at the Jan. & Feb., 1864 muster, admitted CSA General Hospital, Charlottesville, Va. March 12, 1864, Scrofula, returned to duty May 3, 1864, among those absent from their commands paroled at Greensboro, N. C., May 1, 1865,

*** This company was successively designated as Captain McIntosh's Company, Light Artillery: Captain Brunson's Company, South Carolina Light Artillery; and Captain Zimmerman's Company, South Carolina Artillery
