Reconstruction was tough!

A lot of politicians took a personal delight in making the South suffer. This is a subject that IMO is beyond the bounds of this forum to tell the story. Read, Read, Read.

On a more related note, my Grandmother sent a large sum of CS money to the US mint in the early 1950s. She asked if it were worth anything. She actually got a letter back from the mint with all the money included. The response was that the money had no value other that that of a collectable. I still have the letter with all the money she sent and the response. I wonder if anything would come back if she did that today? Of course she would be well over 100 years old now if she was still alive.
