L, 1st (Orr's) SC Rifles, was captured at Petersburg, VA, on 2 Apr 1865, and sent to Hart's Island, NY, where he was released on 15 Jun 1865 (Kirkland, Randolph W., Jr., DARK HOURS: SOUTH CAROLINA SOLDIERS, SAILORS AND CITIZENS HELD IN U.S. PRISONS 1861-1865, (Charleston: 2002), p. 504).
