Sloan for 3 years or the war, promoted 4th/3rd & 1st Corporal, no dates, promoted 5th Sergeant July 18, 1864, subsequently 2nd Sergeant by years end, captured at Petersburg April 2, 1865, received at Hart’s Island, New York Harbor April 7, released on taking the Oath, June 15, 1865, resident of Spartentburg Dist., S.C., light complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, 5’ 10”

* This company subsequently became Company L, 1st (Orr’s) Regiment South Carolina Rifles
