Of course. I see now the article is available on Kaufman's website under the heading "Articles." Also mentioned is CWMB posters George Purvis and Evelyn Rard. I have not seen Evelyn post in awhile.

It is interesting the Confederate government furnished free to Confederate prisoners of war Confederate stamps for letters home. The US government did not send stamps south for their prisoners. In general US postage had to be attached to a separate envelope enclosing the original letter and this traveled in the US postal system to a regular "Flag of Truce" boat say at Fortress Monroe or Charleston. From here the letters south were delivered to the Confederacy where they entered the Confederate postal system.

Same for correspondence going north. Both sides also reviewed and censored the letters.
