Re: Any Squids Out There?
In Response To: Re: Any Squids Out There? ()

As I understand the new rules no rate or rating shall contain the word "man". So what do we call a sailor? I devoted five years of my life to the U.S. Navy and attained the rate of Yeoman 2nd class. Surely all of we that wore our rating on the left sleeve took enough "Kidding" from the right sleeve ratings.

We who wore our rating on our left sleeve was teased by the right sleeve ratings unmercifully, because we were supposed to be the "Sissies" without the ability to perform the duties of the "real" seamen, that were sailors that could be depended on to defeat the enemy.

I was discharged in December 1951 and I don't even recognize the Naval uniforms that the sailors wear today. May God help us and protect the United States when, and not if, we ever get into a "shooting" war with live ammunition.

I suppose we could refer to all sailors as sexless Navy Personnel.

Any suggestions of how to identify Navy personnel
