That is a very interesting story. Do you know when and where Private Allen was captured and sent to Camp Chase? My gg-grandfather was from Stewart County TN and he also served in the 50th TN. He was in Company B. Anyway, that regiment was surrendered at Ft. Donelson and sent to Camp Douglas, so Private Allen had to have been captured after the exchange. That would suck so badly, to be sent to POW camp twice and never come home.
