Re: Innovations during the Civil War

Herb, I believe that more American soldiers died from the War for Southern Independence than ALL other wars combined. More American civilians died in the first year than all other wars combined. As for the cause of death, I have read different guestimates, different conclusions, but until someone is able to obtain a credible account of how many soldiers died, then I am not going to be convinced of how most of them died. Just my two cents.
p.s. Today was the 40th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, when the last American serviceman left while the North Vietnamese were violating the so-called "peace agreement" and murdering civilians as well as former soldiers. I attended a local service organized by some Vietnam vets and I estimate that half of the small attendance was made up of Vietnam vets. The apathy from folks makes it easier to understand why so few seem to care about our Confederate ancestors..
