Again another piece of evidence that our "Common" history texts (which are what our "Common" understanding of the causes of that war are bases on) are more Mythology than they are Factual.

Then besides these incidents you have the displaced Contrabands in the south who had no way of making a living once their plantation life was uprooted. So in effect they were "Conscripts" caused by situation, to include the selling of blacks back into slavery to Unionist Plantation owners in order to raise Cotton for the North to sale abroad.

So what was the REAL cause of the War? It certainly wasn't to Free the Slaves.
