That's interesting. Maybe I'm way off but the Cuban resembles the Doberman to me. My Grandfather was an AKC judge and had different dogs while I was growing up. He always told us that even if a dog that may be considered 'dangerous' looks and acts docile, never take it for granted. He had a Doberman once and that dog was lent out to a friend to guard his business at night. Baron was pretty good around me but Granddaddy would never let me around him alone. Knowing Baron was a trained guard dog, I didn't argue either.
My cousin has had many Pit Bulls over the years. His kids would ride on the back of one like a pony. She never once snapped at them. Let the UPS truck or another stepvan come up the driveway and she was on it and snarling.
I guess some breeds have characteristics in them that can be honed by training for a specific purpose. At least we are seeing dogs being used for good things more now.
