I have come to the conclusion that while it sounds so very noble to place the cause of the American Civil War on the matter of slavery, it is also convenient to 'misremember' the mention of slavery in the Bible. The church leaders in the Northern states probably did some praying that there wouldn't be any mention or questioning. John Brown believed in his 'Holy' cause and quoted scripture, but I don't think any of it mentioned human ownership. Not only should our schools history text be written with more truth and less political leaning in regard to 'that war' but they need to put the issue in context with the time.
