Re: Lost Cause?

Stan your real point was that by Pledging our alliegience to the Flag "and the Country for which it stands" was equal to pledging our alliegence to the Country. And that is not correct.

For what is this Country? Is it the Flag? Is it the Constitution? Is it the Government that sets in Washington D.C. and dictates and issues edicts to us?

No this country, in my opinion, is none of these temporial things. This Country existed before the Constitution was written, This country existed before the Articles of Confederation was written. This Country even existed before the Declaration of Independence was written.

This country was born in the Magna Carta, Then men have a right to be free from execisive interference of Government, and Kings, in their lives. This carried over to the Pilgrims and the Jamestown settlers. Then to Concord and Breeds Hill, and so forth and so on.

Why then should I willingly give up "my Country" and my Forefathers country, which is the concept that all free men have a right to live their lives in peace and with as little Governmnetal interference as possible? That Country is called "LIBERTY".

Why then should I limit myself, by attaching myself and pledge my alliegence to a Government, of a country, which do not share my ideals? A country which believes that it has a right to dictate how I should live?

I will willingly, support and partner with the physical Country, which accords me, and my Country "Liberty", the most not constrained by the boundaries of those physical objects or limited to the ideals placed on those pieces of paper.
