Dear Rick; Read back through this "Stuff." Interesting.

First; I agree, the Choctaw was not operating down this way when he died.

Second; There have been many Steam Boats named Choctaw, perhaps only one during the Civil War. Do not know. Really not important

Third; The C S A Grave Stone. This is a Memorial Stone or Cenotaph. The name and information was gleaned from a list discovered in the Old Court House Museum in about 1975 - 1978. The list was ancient and of course hand written, hard to read, etc, etc,

Fourth; Had forgotten the Choctaw Brigade. Remember, they were involved in the tragic Chunky River Train Wreck when the bridge fell in about February 07th, 1863. Chunky River Bridge is / was a few miles eastward from Newton.

One of our goals is to do away with some of the confusion involving the Confederate Hero's buried in Soldiers Rest and the adjoining Vicksburg City Cemetery aka Cedar Hill Cemetery. Make them into real people if you please.

If we could tie this fellow to the Choctaw Battalion, it would be new and different and interesting
