Re: 7th MS. Regiment-Train Wreck

Thanks, Hoyt. the VA article and True Delta are new for us. They confirm much of what was reported in local papers and eye witness reports. New information included the mention of Dr.Buie of Co. E. Also new is that "21 corpses" were carried up the rail line for burial at home. We assumed as much, but had no record. The casualty reports include those who were transported to New Orleans with Dr. Devereaux. Their places of burial are hard to pin down.

Our website www.7miss.org has some information about the train wreck at Ponchatoula, LA, and more details can be found in the Regimental History, "Lest We Forget-the Immortal Seventh Mississippi" Vol.I, Skellie 2012. The historical market has been stolen, but there is a photo. If anyone is interested, I have a detailed article about the accident as well as casualty reports.
