George,

I believe that the 6th Mississippi Carradine is a separate individual. B.C. (Bird Calhoun) Caradine, a 23 year old overseer, listed as a resident of Chickasaw County, P.O. Palo Alto, mustered into service as a member of the Spartan Band (Capt. Mellard) at Sparta on Mar. 23, 1861. This company was mustered in to Confederate service as (Old) Co. K, 13th Mississippi Infantry Regiment in May, 1861. Caradine was elected 1st Sgt. When the regiment was reorganized in April, 1862, this company became (New) Co. H, and Caradine was not reelected as 1st Sgt., subsequently being carried on the rolls of this company as a private. He is with the regiment until April 14, 1864. From that time forward he is listed as AWOL. I believe that he went home from Virginia, and then either joined the 6th or was pressed back into service against his will.
