Good article. Would like to see it footnoted with references.

I can add one small correction. Captain John H. Marshall was the commander of the Mobile Dragoons, Company G, 15th CS Cavalry (not Sibley's Alabama Cavalry). On October 20, 1863, he was leading a platoon of 16 troopers from his company when he was wounded through the right shoulder. Captain Marshall is the same man that was leading 29 troopers of the Mobile Dragoons on April 9, 1863, when he defeated Col Daniels 180 battalion in the skirmish at Pascagoula. I am completing a detailed article on that skirmish.
