Thanks George, I believe you see what I'm trying to do insofar as trying to tie these two soldiers together. In your opinion was John Newton of the Tennessee Detailed Conscripts and John B. Newton of the North Carolina Conscripts the same soldier? It does appear that John M. Newton was a different soldier entirely.
