George, great point. Yes if the Confederate CMSR's are unreadable on fold 3 and the archives employee agrees then you may request the original Confederate CMSR's to view. Having said that using the microfilm reader downstairs you can turn it to negative and the Confederate CMSR can be usually read in a black or white contrast. In my opinion this at times is the best way to read the faded records. I was having that trouble last week when looking at the Camp Morton 1862 prison records. It was unreadable and my trick did not work using the negative. The archives pulled the original book however they pulled the wrong book and as a result it was too late for another pull so I ended up finding nothing.
