Actually, William Faulkner (he changed the spelling) was Col. Falkner's great grandson, and the Colonel was shot and killed by a business partner nearly 8 years before William, the author, was born. When my grandparents bought a house in New Albany on Cleveland St. they had no idea that a famous author had been born just down the street. Of course William was only a teenager then so no one else knew that yet either.
