Re: Need information about Thomas Bruce

Hello:

My great grandfather, Wiley Lewis, from Oktibbeha and Choctaw Counties, joined Co. K, 35th, in June 1862, in West Point. He fought in the battles in the Corinth area until the end of 1962. He began writing letters home from Vicksburg in early 1863. From his 20 letters, he apparently was involved in the activities of Thomas Bruce through out March, April and May. Wiley was then sent to a hospital in Jackson, and onto Quitman, were he died 29 Jul 1863. I am seeking to recreate the activities of the 35th from June, 1862 until July 4, 1863. Your summaries of March, April and May activity are helpful. I will be happy to share Wiley's letters with you, for whatever they are worth to you, (Thomas Bruce is not mentioned), as well as other research I have related to the war, and would appreciate you sharing any knowledge or documents that relate to our common goals. By sharing history of the 35th, we may possibly be able to develop meaningful histories of our ancestors, and recreate more insight into their respective lives, during the war.
