Dancy is the name on the enlistment form for James Reeves/Reves. There may be a slight chance that Pvt. James Reeves father (William C. Reeves) enlisted first in another infantry in 1861, but was discharged with a severe injury in 1862. The 1860 census indicates they were farmers and shows James as the only son (in the census at least).

While doing research for work I learned that James Reeves was the first Confederate soldier to die at the Rock Island Barracks. His headstone is mismarked though which caused me confusion and led me on this search.
