Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the information you provided. Two of the names match info I have just located. In an old family generated genealogical book about the descendants of Samuel Swanzy who migrated from Ireland in 1730, I found this information. John Robert Swanzey was skilled carpenter and was a wagon maker for the Confederacy. His wife, Margaret Susanna (Lary) Swanzy received a pension for his service. The information stated that his three brothers did serve - Samuel Anderson Swanzy, George Washington Swanzy and William Zachariah Swanzy. The family moved from South Caroline to Mississippi in 1835 and settled in Lowndes County. I am working on my membership in the United Daughters of the Confederacy. John Robert Swanzy will be my patriot. Through that organization, most chapters participate in the erecting of Civil War Headstones. I assume that there since my g-grandfather has this nice headstone there was an application form and valid information to warrant the new headstone. However, the only information available to me may be the pension records for Margaret Susanna Swanzy.
