These men could be on earlier rosters of the consolidated regiments. The parole or surrender rosters would list them if surrendered as 24th Miss., but they would be listed with one of the original regiments prior to surrender. Example: 7th Mississippi was Co. A 9th Miss. (there were only 74 men remaining in the regiment. Company A included 13 other men from various units to make the one company.) when it was consolidated. The other regiments in Sharp's Brigade made up the other companies. (9th, 10th, 41st, and 44th Miss, and 9th Battn. Miss. SS) All of these men listed their original regiment on post-war records.
