Was this stone ordered around 1940? reason i ask, is we believe the 2 stones belonging to Private A Roberts and M Winburn that we found in town that we presumed had been stolen, may have never been put down in the first place. A Tom Byrd ordered those. I'm sending my adjutant to talk with the folks who run Slay Cemetery in State line to see if there is an old plot map.

I am also gonna go by the library to look at records not available online, to see if i can find anything with a Church Murray on them. The problem with State Line, is it sits right on the MS AL line on the intersection of Wayne and Greene MS and Washington County ALa. There was indeed a 36th ALA infantry from Washington county but no cavalry.

I just wonder though if the ancestor had no clue where he served, how much he really knew. This Stone could very well be in another cemetery here, as we have seen with others. We have a bunch of vets here we cannot find. in some cases the info is wrong, some the graves were not marked, Some in the case of McLain, Anguish 4/4/1844 State Line, MS 9/25/1907 McLain, MS Pvt Co.E, 36 Alabama Infantry, the grave was moved or bulldozed over to build the Mclain High School Gym. Greene County has had no SCV presence till now since the original Roberts UCV camp here closed in the 1940's, and we got alot of work to do.
God Bless Dixie,
Brent Waller
