On Oct 10, 1863, James M Deskins reenlisted in Company "A", 33rd Mississippi Regiment. He served with William D Deskins, also of Company "A". JMD received a furlough from a hospital at Lauderdale Springs MS Mar 10, 1865, and may have been home when the war ended.
Whoever placed the marker for James M Deskins didn't know of his Confederate service record. He only belonged to the 1st State Battalion for seven months; his service with the 33rd Mississippi Regt (a Confederate organization) was over twice that length and included actual field service with a Confederate army.
