According to 1860 census William R. Moore was 39, Amelia 38, Alexander 19, William 17, John 15, Joseph 6, Ephram 5. Then 1880 census William Moore was 60, Amelia 58, Mary 18. His father and mother born in South Carolina. I don't know how the mix-up came about on the Confederate Grave Registry for William unless someone used that info to get the headstone. That was before the days of computers. Was always told there were only 3 graves in your pasture - William R., Amelia and unnamed grandchild. At one time there were some broken headstones in the old barn. Don't know if there was any writing on them. Am so glad you are interested in this puzzle because it will take a detective to figure this out. We live in Natchez, phone 601-445-4227.
