Ron, I know i've told you this before but great-grandfather Pvt. John Roberts was married to a Freeman sister during the war and in 1869 married a sister of the Robertson men. The Freeman and Robertson families also had some marriages together. John Roberts was a brother-in-law of Joel Freeman during his marriages to both of these women. His comment about hearing the band and being revived may have been partially due to him being related to and knowing so many members.

I want to but seem to never get around to researching the "Battle of the Bands" that took place at Murfreesboro. I read years ago on one of those old collector cards about how after the first (?) days fighting at Murfreesboro both the Union and Confederate bands engaged in an impromptu competition as one band would play a tune and then the other side would answer. If I recall correctly it ended up with both sides joining in to closeout with "Home Sweet Home". If you have any details on this I would like to hear it.
