Jim, Thanks. The thing about all of this, other than "Whisky" Smith, that bothers me, is that I have never seen a book or an article or even a list of burned Mississippi towns. I have chased this subject some and most of the Northern and Mississippi river counties had their county seats burned and there were also many other smaller towns burned, and I do not forget Jackson. I believe Mississippi had more towns burned than any other state. If the good Lord lets me live long enough, I hope to remedy this with an article or at least a chapter in a planned book about Oxford and the University in the War. The book just written on Oxford during the war is a joke. There are more small, large and made up errors in that book than I can shake a stick at.

I will go back and see if I can pull out another fact or two on A. J. Smith for the Corinth historian.
