Thanks so very much. I found his pension in Alabama, but he had served in two units from Mississippi during the war. I do not know why he filed in Alabama, unless he had moved there. I have not been able to locate him on any census for Alabama. Maybe he lived there only a short time and he was not on census. The archives in Alabama sent me some papers that he had filed and on the papers, he had two men from Panola, Ms. give affadavits that they knew he had served and was honorably discharged in 1865. He had served in the 4th Ms. Infantry and then joined the 18th Ms. cavalry. Thanks for your help.
