Actually, 450 appears to be too high. The effectives of the regiment appear to have numbered 415 at the time, but not all of the regiment was mounted. From the regimental history, it looks like anywhere from 3-6 companies of the regiment were mounted by May 12th. Does anyone have any indication how many of these companies had joined Wirt Adams by May 12th?

I suppose a reasonable estimate of the number of 20th Mississippi with Adams at the time would be 200, +/- 50.

Anyone doing a regimental history of this unit?
