Monterey,
I am sorry that I have not replied sooner but was out of pocket. I really appreciate all of the help you have given me in identifying relatives that leads me to one that served in the CSA. To answer a previous question that you had about my grandmother's death, she died on May 6, 1964 in Amite, Louisiana, buried in Amite cemetery. To my hazy remembrance, my mother talked about her half brother (who lived with us when I was a young child) and his name was Jim Jones. I did not know his father's name but thanks to you, I now know. With the information that you have given me along with all the others that have contributed, which I truly appreciate, I feel comfortable with Archibald McEwen being my great-great uncle with Robert McEwen (my grandmother's father) being Archibald's brother. Archibald served with the 38th Mississippi Infantry (Mounted), Co. K, Brents Rifles (Pike County, MS). I have really gotten interested in research of my relatives and intend on expanding my family tree. Would you happened to have access to see if Robert McEwen served in the War? On my fater's side of the family, I believe that grandfather (Daniel Tyrney) emigrated to the US about that time and may have came to New Orleans, LA with a brother and sister per conversations in the family but can not be sure of this. I wish I had paid alot more attention!!! Would it be possible to see if there were any Tyrney's in the War? Thanks for all you have done and to all the others who have contributed. Jim Tyrney
