Ron, here's all the biographical information I have for this man in my database for the 37th Alabama Infantry, and posted online at the link shown below. I corresponded with a relative of T.F. Leggett who was the source of some of the following. His name is Jeff Armstrong, but it's been a number of years since that correspondence took place.

NAME: Thomas F. Leggett/Legett
RANK: Private
UNIT: Company A, 37th Alabama Regiment of Volunteer Infantry, CSA
Age at Enlistment: 48
Enlisted 22 March 1862 at Auburn AL by J.F. Dowdell; Appears as a Private on Muster Roll of Co. A, 37th Ala. Inf. dated 13 May 1862 at Auburn AL; POW on an undated list of "prisoners of war forwarded by Provost Marshall at Holly Springs, Miss., to Cairo, Ill"; Also appears on a list of "sick C.S.A. who were put off on the banks of the Miss. River, from the steamer Minnehaha, at Greenville, Miss. Dec. 31, 1862, entirely destitute of rations, bedding, etc." Died in service 1 Jan 1863 of Smallpox at Greenville MS; Claim for deceased soldier filed 1 Nov 1864 by Martha Ann Leggett, widow; Veteran of the Creek Indian War
