State troops and other militia companies raised after the early months of the war would be wearing predominantly civilian dress. Firearms would be armory discards, no weapons that you would expect to see in Confederate commands. Due to shortages of even second or third-rate muskets, militiamen often served unarmed. Very little in the way of equipment and supplies -- this could be verified by checking requisitions by his company commander, but I doubt any will be found in his file. State quartermasters had little to offer their troops.
