Alan, thanks for the reply. I sent off for Harry Dixon Jessops military service records and there was no mention of a parole. According to his granddaughter, Hilda Jessop who is still alive, she is 105 years old, he had the same horse throughout the war so I guess he remained with his company, Company C, when it was ordered to Charlotte North Carolina and was therefore part of President Davis's escort. In Fergusons papers " The Last Council Of War", he mentions that when they reached Georgia his Brigade refused to go any further but he does mention a list of troopers,120 plus who swore to follow the President whereever he might go. Do you know if this list still exists? It would certainly be an interesting document to study. Finally what happened to Colonel Inge when the Brigade disbanded. Once again many thanks for your help.
