Re: George Bird - Carroll Rifles

The flag of the "Carroll Rifles" survived well into the 1970's.
It was on display in the Carrollton Sheriff's Office. It has since
vanished!
It had been saved at the end of the war by Captain J. S. Stanley.
Stanley presented it to the veterans at a reunion in 1903. At some
point the flag was loaned to the Mississippi State Museum. It was
withdrawn from that institution in 1938 by Mrs. W. H. Price of the
U.D.C.
A reproduction of that flag is housed at the Merrill Museum in
Carrollton.
Does anyone know what became of the original flag??
