Good work, I just checked his records and his companies muster roll for July/August 1864 record "Killed at Peach Tree Creek, July 19, 1864."

His father in his affadavite applying for his son's pay, allowances, effects, etc. stated as near as I can read that he " . . . died at Atlanta on or about the 19th day of July . . . he was killed in Battle at the time and place that he was killed by a Stray Shot."

I have the book Civil War Markers, Georgia Department of Natural Resources and find two markers on Moore's Mill Road at Peachtree Creek.

Moore's Mill 060-64

The Thomas Moores refugeed south in 1864, leaving B. F. Mauldin in charge of the grist mill supplying Confederate forces; the invaders, damaging but not destroying the property, sent him north as a prisoner.

Battle at Moore's Mill 060-68

July 19, Morgan's brigade, Davis division, 14th A. C. (F), faced a destructive fire from Confederate forces on the high bluff south of Moore's Mill. July 20, Mitchell's brigade forced Confederates to evacuate the bluff, enabling Morgan to cross the creek.

The OR Atlas Plate 62-4 show's Moore's approximately 1/2 mile up the North Fork of Peach Tree Creek and about 1-3/4 miles SE of Buckhead. Also the crossing on Peach Tree Creek on Plate 88-1.
