This is purely a guess, but I believe many of these men who died were transported home or may have been sent down the Mobile & Ohio RR or via the Jackson & Greater N.O. RR toward Jackson, MS. to established cemeteries near the other wayside hospitals, i.e., Lauderdale Springs, Brookhaven, Hazelhurst, or Coney at Summit, Miss. I have no proof other than many men who became sick at Corinth were sent south to Saltillo--some to their homes or at least further down the rail line, rather than remaining in the poor conditions in the camps.
