Henry Kenard Gardner (H.K.) had such close ties with Reform, Pickens County, Ala., it is somewhat difficult to know whether or not to post questions and information about him and his wife in the Alabama or Mississippi sections.

The latest information, received from my brother, is that he signed a "Parole of Pardon and Honor" on May 19, 1865 at Wharburg (?), Miss. -- could be Waynesboro? The paper was numbered 1508 and signed by Brig.Gen. C.S. Dennis, USA (?). In regard to the unit he was serving with, we are unable to decypher the handwriting. However, the commanding officer, who surrendered the unit, was Lt. Gen. R. Taylor, CSA. Was this Gen. Richard Taylor of the Western District of Louisiana?
