Right. Brashears Road didn't dogleg south back then like it does now at the western edge of Old Albany. It went northwest to southeast to due east straight through the middle of Old Albany. Now it turns due south at the western edge of Albany, and intersects with Hwy 210.
That Riley Blythe home is the useful point of reference for site locations for the ambush, and encampment. Just short of a mile southeast to the battle site, 3/4 mile southwest to the camp. Camp wasn't quite to the river as I had thought it would be, but still heavily timbered 160 years ago.
And look at whose land is battle site adjacent. John Bissell. 14-year Merton Bissell was in that crew of teenagers who helped ferret Anderson out. An right next to the Bissell plot? Well, that's A.D. Brasher's land. And there was a 16-year Ben Brasher in the group of teenagers....
