Great stuff John. You always catch an angle I can't see. Thanks for connecting the two Elliott Majors and the other insights. Elliott D. was always making the news during the war, and his immediate family was one of the largest landowners in the entire region and ended up having a governor in the family--it surprises me they have no nineteenth century historical presence. And E.D. was such a well-respected community member in San Luis Obispo--just read the blurbs about his involvement with the fire department--that it's surprising that unusual lack of historical presence followed him all the way out to California. Thanks again.
